About
Sherin Hussien received her PhD in Kinesiology from Western University 2007 with a special interest in Health Promotion and holds additional Ph.D. degree from Alexandria University, Egypt, in Exercise Physiology 1999. Her main area of interest is health promotion, with a special focus on diseases prevention within the female Arab population. Dr. Hussien is an Adjunct Professor at Western University, Faculty of Education. Also, she is an Associate Professor at Alexandria University, Faculty of Physical Education for Girls. She has taught at the University of Alexandria since 1990. She has been able to use her knowledge to develop community-based interventions that address the unique health needs of Arab Canadian women. Dr. Hussien is the founder and CEO of the Women Empowerment of Canada for Newcomers organization (WECanN). She chairs the Muslim Women's Social Committee in London, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Hussien was the recipient of I Am London Award, London & Middlesex Local Immigration Partnership, City of London 2015, the recipient of Life as a Refugee, Community Champion Award, London, Ontario 2012, the recipient of Leading Women Building Communities Award 2008 and also she was the recipient of Special Opportunity Fund from the Olympic Scientific Congress in Dallas, Texas.
