About
Dr.Amr Moheb is one of the Egyptians’ most popular sportswriters. He is currently a lecturer and head of the Communication module in French (The CIES / FIFA Sports Management program in Egypt) at Cairo University and its coordinator and representative. After obtaining a professional master’s in journalism, from University of Paris II (France) and a master’s degree in media from Ecole Supérieure de Journalism of Montpellier (France), Dr. Moheb worked as a sports journalist for the French Weekly Newspaper Al-Ahram Hebdo; and then, for 20 years, he held various positions at the very famous Al-Ahram daily newspaper, becoming one of the most famous and respected sports journalists in Egypt and in the Arab’s world.
His proficiency in languages, his background in sports journalism, and his ability to communicate with coaches from different cultural background, led him to be a member of the technical staff, a member of the administrative staff, and the designated interpreter for Al-Ahly football team from 2018 until present days. He, also, was the assistant coach and the interpreter of the Egyptian National team head coach, Gerard Gili, during the African Cup of Nations (Nigeria – Ghana 2000). During his time with Al-Ahly football club, he won two Egyptian League Editions and two African Champions League for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons.
Dr. Amr has also worked as a reporter for internationally known tabloids such as the French magazine "Le Mirror du Foot"; and he held various administrative positions. For instance, from 2005 to 2014, he served as FIFA's Assistant Development Officer for the countries of North and East Africa. In 2001, he was appointed as the African Volleyball Confederation's (CAVB) Press Officer and Head of the Public Relations Department in Canada (Ottawa/Hull). From 2004 until 2008, he was a journalist and an editor-in-chief for the official website of the Arab Clubs Football League in English and in French (ACL) for the Union Arab Football Association (UAFA).
His vast experience and considerable expertise in sports and media allowed him to become a Member of the FIFA Organizing Committees participating at the World Cups of Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Women Football FIFA World Cup in China 2007, and Women Football FIFA World Cup in Germany 2011; as well as a FIFA Instructor in Communication and Media from 2005 until 2014.
Some additional highlights of Dr. Amr’ career include his participation as a member of the Egyptian Local Organizing Committee FIFA World Cup (Under 17) in 1997; his role as a deputy press officer and public relations at the Confederation of African Football (CAF); and his position as a member and press officer of the organizing committee for Handball World-Cup - Egypt 1999, and then for the FIFA Meridian Cup (Egypt 2002).
